Welcome to Magnolia United Methodist Church! We hope you feel at home with us. We strive to create a warm and friendly environment for all to worship and grow in faith.
We offer Sunday morning worship along with children’s ministry and adult Sunday school as well as learning and ministry opportunities throughout the week. Take a look and see what fits you best. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Church office.
We encourage visitors to sign the registration pads in the pews with your contact information so that we can correspond with you if needed. We also have visitor information packets that we would like you to take home that provide information about the church and our educational and ministry offerings.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions – feel free to contact us if you have additional inquiries.
How big is MUMC?
Our average attendance on Sunday morning is approximately 130 worshipers.
What should I expect from a Sunday service at MUMC?
Service begins at 9:00 a.m. when our acolytes bring forward the Light of Christ. While each week is different, we follow the same basic format that includes prayer time, a children’s message and a sermon. Children are dismissed to JuMP (Junior Ministry Program) after the children’s message at approximately 9:30. The service typically concludes at 10:00 with coffee fellowship following morning worship. The JuMP lessons end at 10:30. The adult Sunday school hour begins at 10:30. Nursery services are available during worship as well as the adult Sunday school hour.
Are nursery services available?
Yes, we have a nursery for children up to age 3 during worship and childcare up to 5th grade during the adult Sunday school hour.
Is it OK to keep my children with me during worship service?
Absolutely. While we have nursery services available for children up to age 3 and children’s ministry following the children’s message – your children may not be comfortable leaving you in an unfamiliar environment. While we believe that JuMP is the best place for children to learn about God’s love in the long run, and our hope is that families who begin to attend our church will come to appreciate the value of their children developing close friendships with their peers in the context of the local church – we understand that it takes time to establish a level of comfort before that happens.
What should I wear?
We do not have a dress code at MUMC – all are welcome to come as you are. You will typically find some attendees wearing nice jeans and casual attire while others choose to wear their Sunday best.
When do you offer communion? Is it open to everyone?
Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month to anyone wishing to participate.
What version of the Bible do you use?
The United Methodist Church does not mandate a specific version. Our pastor often employs the New Revised Standard Version and our pew Bibles are the Revised Standard Version, but many other versions are used by Sunday school teachers and Bible study leaders as well.
I work on Sunday mornings, what do you offer throughout the rest of the week?
Currently our only worship service is on Sunday mornings, however we offer a variety of ways you can connect throughout the rest of the week. We have Youth Group, Prayer Group, Bible Studies, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Backpack Ministry, Children’s Activities, Men’s Prayer Breakfasts and more.
