Backpack Ministry called “Caring for Cardinals” packs bags full of nonperishable child-friendly food items twice each month on Wednesday mornings at 10:45 a.m. On Fridays at 9:30 we load up and deliver the bags to Sandy Valley schools to be distributed to students whose families need support. Anyone is welcome to join us in packing and/or delivering bags.
White Cross Ministry is a fairly new initiative at MUMC. The Willing Workers group started making and distributing small white crosses in the spring of 2016. Crosses are free to anyone willing to display them in their lawn or flower bed as an outward sign of their commitment to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The “cross factory” is open most days and anyone willing to help assemble, paint or wrap crosses is encouraged to stop by and help.
Willing Workers are a group of MUMC members and friends that enjoy showing God’s love in action. They complete building and cleanup jobs for those in need.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is open to anyone who knows how to knit or crochet or is interested in learning. Join us on the third Thursday of each month in the Youth Room at 9:30 a.m. We gather together to make the shawls and to pray over them and bless them before we pass them on to give comfort to those in physical and spiritual need. It is our hope that by wrapping a prayer shawl around one’s shoulders the person receiving the shawl will feel the presence of God’s love.
Vacation Bible School is usually held in the evening during the third week of July. With over 100 kids attending, we need a large staff of volunteers to teach classes, assist classroom teachers, help with music, audio-visual needs, take photos, prepare snacks, plan and assist with crafts, organize games, and so much more. We welcome all children ages 3 through 5th grade and all youth and adults willing to volunteer.
